Dr. Jason Cohen, MD, FACS is a surgical oncologist and general surgeon, and the founder and managing partner of the Surgery Group of Los Angeles. He is highly experienced in laparoscopic, robotic, and other minimally invasive techniques, and specializes in head and neck endocrine surgery — with particular expertise in the surgical treatment of the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
Training & Education
Dr. Cohen began in an unexpected place, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the State University of New York at Binghamton — an artist’s eye for precision he still brings to the operating room. He earned his M.D. at the SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, where he also completed his general surgery residency and served as chief resident.
He then moved to Los Angeles to train as a surgical oncology fellow at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and immediately afterward was named director of the surgical oncology and breast clinic at Cedars-Sinai.

Dr. Cohen serves as a member of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Executive Committee and as Chief Medical Advisor to the hospital’s Pre-Healthcare Program, mentoring undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students. He has written for numerous medical journals, and his volunteer work has taken him as far as South America and Africa.
